Hi
My organisation has recently introduced DokuWiki as a means of storing all documents in our Architecture Repository and providing information on the architecture to our business users. We have also recently aquired Archi, an Open Source tool to model its Enterprise Architecture. Archi allows you to produced automated HTML reports based on the information in the models e.g. the reports include information on our system components and properties relating to those systems. One of those properties is a link to a high level design document stored on the DokuWiki server.
The links look something like this...
http://gotmweb1.abc.ro/dokuwiki/lib/exe/fetch.php/ab/arch/application/XYZ/020_Imp_to_Comm_Hand_Infrastructure_Design_Spec_v1.doc (You have to hover over the link to see the full path as the post won't allow the full length).
To note, I had to add in the "_" because I determined DokuWiki doesn't like the spaces. There might be other characters that it doesn't like and if this is the problem I'm not sure that renaming the hundreds of legacy documents is the answer...
When you open the link in Archi they work perfectly as it asks you if you want to open or save the document. When you paste the link directly into a browser it works the same way. Also if you open the report directly the links work in the same way i.e. it opens the actual file.
However, when you paste the the html code from the Archi report into a DokuWiki page, clicking on a link causes it to behave in the same way as a link to a DokuWiki page i.e. it opens up a blank DokuWiki page stating that the item is yet to be created.
We've chosen to display the reports in DokuWiki pages for 2 reasons:
- the DokuWiki server allows us to store all our repository files which allows us to create hyperlinks to documents that are accessible from Archi. Archi doesn't allow you to create working links to files on a standard network drive.
- the automated reports from Archi which is only accessible to our Architects provides us a way of getting content to the DokuWiki without having to retype the exact same information on platform for other users.
I realise that I could go into the report and add in docuWiki links but this is manual effort.
It would be simpler to link to the html report from DokuWiki but DokuWiki doesn't allow you to upload html mime type files and cautions against doing so for security reasons so we have decided not to implement this as a configuration change.
It might be an option to add a second property to the Archi report for a link that is DokuWiki friendly but this would be duplication of effort and confusing for users as there is no way of filtering which properties are displayed in the Archi report i.e. users would see 2 links.
Any suggestions greatefully or explanations as to why the links aren't working would be greatefully recieved.
Thanks very much
