Subject: Minimun / Recommended Server Requirements
Hi,

what are the recommended Server requirements?

There is not enough Information on https://www.dokuwiki.org/requirements

E.g. I want to know about the memory limit and webspace. What is the minimun? And the useful maximum which can be used?

Regards

There's no real minimum. It depends on your usecase. DokuWiki is known to run fine on a Raspberry Pi for personal use. Of course you want more power if you want to serve more users. DokuWiki will profit when there's enough RAM for the Operating System to cache frequently used files.

Are there any look-up tables?

For approximately 30 users and 100 pages, but the users will surely not work at the same time.

Let's do it the other way round. What server choices do you have?

I don't have any server yet, I'm just testing on a local setup with memory_limit=128M and unlimited space.

Haven't found a hosting provider with less than that. There's no difference in usage between windows or Linux, is there?

Do you have any data on the usual user? How many users and pages are average and which Server configuration is used the most?

I think it will be Apache, but you can run it with 64M or 2048M

See https://www.dokuwiki.org/popularity#webservers
(We have more data but don't display everything.)

Thank you, but I'm more interested in the hardware.

I might try different configurations myself.

Do you know any tools to simulate usage or automatic testing?

At the moment, I can only think of DOSing my own System to push it to the limit.

Virtually unknown is the YAWS server written in Erlang.

It runs in low memory environments long after Apache has died under heavy loads as demonstrated here:

https://www.sics.se/~joe/apachevsyaws.html

I have been running a Dokuwiki Farm with YAWS for about a year now with no issues.

Only notable configuration change  to get Dokuwiki working with YAWS is redirect in fpm-php/php.ini needs set to zero as tho it is an ISS server.

Subject: Reheat the topic
Can I join the discussion and throw something in ?
Need to serve: 10 users with max. 4 accesses simultaniously with about 200 pages, some moderation plugins+ sqllite.

Tought about Mini PC's like Intel NUC or Gigabyte Brix with

-Intel Celeron J3455
- Clock 4x 1,50 GHz boost 2,3 GHz
- 8 Gb DDR3 RAM
- 250 GB SSD as Storage
- 1 Gbit Lan
- local network hosting, Apache as Server(maybe Bitnami for the sake of easyness)

No other Serving Processes involved.
OS: Should I aim for Linux Server OS or Windows Server 2015 performance wise?
Would an Intel CPU of i-Series (i3/i5) be a better choice?

Any experiences would be very welcome!

I run my main wiki with a Synology NAS. The wiki uses sqlite and foto albums. I moved the whole wiki with more than 3000 pages and 3500 images to an Banana Pi with just a 64GB SD card. The Banana Pi is similar to the Raspberry Py and costs rather less than €100. Some of the functions run faster on the Banana pi than on the Synology, such as adding pictures to the media library. I presume that this is on account of the solid state storage.

Here some experiences are reported:

By Patreon.com a few eurons can be fed into the code phasers of
the DokuWiki engine. Besides, Andi's posts are worth reading.
