turnermm hit the nail on the head CA.
If you are new to Doku like I am, pretty much if you can think of something that you need, there is a good chance it's already out there in the form of a plugin.
I spent hours just perusing the plugin listings at
https://www.dokuwiki.org/plugins
A little hint, see the column headings at the top of the plugins area? You'll see Author, Last Update, Popularity, you can click on one of those headings to sort by that heading. I like to click on the Last Update column to see what has been most recently maintained, and I also like the Popularity sorting as well, that lets me know what the folks who have been using Doku longer then I have are using. But don't let those sort functions be the governing decision on your plugins choices, there are a whole lot out there further down the list that seem to be outstanding, and well maintained.
Also, we needed a WYSIWYG editor on board our wiki, our social forum community we are running will be using our open wiki, and to force these folks to use wiki syntax would have been torturous to say the least, so we have the
https://www.dokuwiki.org/plugin:ckgedit as turnerman suggested, this editor is the bomb, it has a nice look and feel to it, and you can give the user the option to use it or not during editing or page creation by a switch button at the bottom of the editing area.
As far as listing pages and namespaces (categories) there are few plugins that I am playing with now, I am still working my way through the fog with the namespace concept verses categories, wiki's typically use namespaces, I am completely used to categories, so I need to get my head wrapped around that one, it's a slow process with me, but I am coming out of the fog one step at a time.
You can see our namespace/page listing at
http://www.tpwtestuser.com/doku/doku.php/wiki:content_directory
This site is our test site, so it's all just a mash up of goofing off. But you get the idea, I created that listing page with this plugin at
https://www.dokuwiki.org/plugin:nspages
turnerman says
Dokuwiki has built in listing types for ordered and unordered lists and syntax for creating links
I am trying to see this but am having difficulties with understanding it, perhaps turnerman can explain more in depth to us newbies how to make the listings happen, that would be really cool.
UPDATE: I just installed the "Indexmenu Plugin" you can see it in action at the left column of our test site linked above, below the link "Content Directory".
