Hi there,
We have recently installed dokuwiki as a documentation repository for a development team. Apart from the usual articles we would also like to transfer a datasheet catalog and make it accessible via dokuwiki (mostly via the searchbar). Unfortunately finding such documents seems to be done only via the media manager's search function and not the general one. Is it possible to search for the filenames of these documents via the search bar ? Or am I missing something ?
Things to note:
1) The files can be viewed via medialist and filelist functions (via dedicated pages), however these are not searchable as the function uses raw wiki.
2) We have tried the text render plugin together with searchtext, but these lists are still not rendered and searched for.
3) Most of these files are in pdf format. We'd prefer not using docsearch as we're only interested in searching for the filenames (we use a rather strict naming and tagging system prior to this installation). Moreover all the additional indexed textfiles would create too much overhead.
4) Can the main indexing be extended to media files as well ?
Thanks in advance,
Andre

I'm not entirely sure I follow all this. But you might look at the filelist plugin. It is no longer being actively maintained but it does still work.

Edit:
I did some checking and see that the plugin has been taken over by the group Dokufreaks and is up-to-date.

Hi turnermm,
Thanks for the quick reply. Summarizing my previous post we would like to search for uploaded files through the main search bar.
Up until now we can access the files as follows:
1) Generate a filelist and access the file by browsing the list.
2) Search through the media manager.
The only option I see so far to index uploaded filenames (unless there's a plugin or update i don't know of) is this:
1) Automatically generate rendered textfiles of the pages with filelist (text plugin)
2) index and search these rendered text files instead. (textsearch plugin)
We have been unsuccessful so far. Any help would be much appreciated :)
Regards,
Andre

A lot depends upon what you want. To begin with, the filelist plugin already does all the work of gathering together the links to your media. So, it would be possible to harness its work to a feature which creates a list (or lists) of the media which can then be searched, using a separate plugin to search the list(s).
