if you have a
compelling reason it would be a good idea. I can't think of a compelling reason.... i.e. when the default settings make the sidebar vanish there is not enough screen space left to make the main content block usable - without understanding your use-case it seems, um, shoot-foot. :)
*1 when the screen width is reduced to 10px a single word in the header or footer will need to wrap, and words in the main content - allowing for the side bar, will be wrapped at individual characters. Also the sidebar will be unreadable. At 0px - nothing is visible, rendering the sidebar invisible
and the main content.
Which is of greater importance - the constant display of the sidebar, or the main content? At small screen widths something has to be traded off...
