Simple - yes. Good/safe - very probably not :-/
Backup before trying this - I haven't tested it. If it breaks your DokuWiki you get to keep the pieces.
It will likely allow to select both tickboxes - and it
will be lost on system upgrades.
Edit your language files, e.g.
inc/lang/en/lang.php
and add:-
$lang['majoredit'] = 'Major Changes';

Edit
inc/html.php
and just below the
minoredit function add a new
majoredit function:-
function html_majoredit(){
global $conf;
global $lang;
global $INPUT;
// major edits are for logged in users only
if(!$conf['useacl'] || !$_SERVER['REMOTE_USER']){
return false;
}
$p = array();
$p['tabindex'] = 4;
if($INPUT->bool('major')) $p['checked']='checked';
return form_makeCheckboxField('major', '1', $lang['majoredit'], 'majoredit', 'nowrap', $p);
}

In the same file find the line:-
$elem = html_minoredit();
if ($elem) $form->addElement($elem);

and insert this line directly after it (before the line
$form->addElement(form_makeCloseTag('div'));)
$elem1 = html_majoredit();
if ($elem1) $form->addElement($elem1);
