Subject: How to stop Dokuwiki from lower casing the namespaces?
If I use a namespace like: Product Categories as namespace, Dokuwiki changes it to product_categories which I don't like and it doesn't look professional.  How can I have the namespaces just show the way I entered them?

You can try the useheading configuration option.

Thanks. I was able to make it work for pages. However how to have namespaces have names like Category One instead of category_one?

If you are simply concerned with display, see this: https://forum.dokuwiki.org/post/55011

I tried your method and my result is not quite right. The root node of the sidebar is the title of the wiki. It's supposed to be the first namespace.

If I wanted to create your 'Virtual machines and Servers' -> docs -> virt_resize, how do I create it?
Did you create: Virtual machines and Servers:somepage first?

Also how do you hide 'sidebar' node from the sidebar?

Tony, you additionally need to know, that dokuwiki requires some restrictions for pagenames and namespaces: As far as I remember: lower case, no spaces, etc.
For pages you can use "useheading", what you already did. For namespaces there is no such possibility; you need to make use of the workaround turnermm advised.

'Virtual machines and Servers'  is the h1 heading on the start page of the root.  The docs namespace has only one page, which has no headers.  It is 'docsLvirt_resize'.  Had I want the docs namespace to be identified by a "prettier" title, I would have created a start page with that as its header.
