I am using the latest version of Dokuwiki and I am creating a company information site. I am also using the Monobook template for the site layout.
I have seen sites using monobook, such as wikipedia, where they have added blocks to the left column like the navigation block. I would like to add such blocks but have not been able to find out where that is done. I would also like to move the search block to the top of the column.
Can anyone help me out with this?
Thanks.

Hi there,
I've loaded monobook for testing purposes. Of course the monobook author knows better than me, but I can give some hints...
To debug templates, I use FireFox v2++, and Firebug. To see the code behind any page element I see, by right-clicking on the element, and select the "Inspect Element" option. The element is highlighted when you select it in Firebug. This is fantastic visual debugging of the runtime application on the client side (of course) !
The class of the navigation panel id is "p-x-navigation". The corresponding line in the main.php of the monobook template is 127. Hope this replys your first question.
In the same way the search block is in the div whose id is "p-search". Corresponding code is L133-L146 inclusive. To move this up above the navigation block, move these lines to above the div id="p-x-navigation".
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the pointers.
When I first looked at "main.php" I thought it was software generated code so I didn't think edits would stick. After seeing your pointers, a quick test showed that was not the case ... and problem solved.
Thanks.
