Subject: Window share
Hi,

I am the admin of dokuwiki at my firm.
We use Dokuwiki as database.
I want to have a link with the path at a local folder in our server. I noticed that this is not possible with chrome but not with IE, too.
Can you suggest me a solution?

Thank you.

Windows Share Media (winsharemedia) Plugin proposes to do that - but it's old and may no longer work. I've not used it, but I've used the related smblink plugin and know that at least with Firefox you need to over-ride the default security model for http links to local file systems. LocalLink extension for Firefox.

Thank you for your help.

Finally, I decided to copy the local path and to open a new window at the browser. I use an abbreviation near the path to help my colleagues to open it.

I was looking for this functionality too. But, it's against security because normally you won't gibt webpages the ability to mess with local filesystems... A browserplugin would be a way to do, but you can't be shure that a user has it installed or use the right browser. This will produce service tickets.
You need some kind of "middleware", like a java-program which is accesible from the clientbrowser off the webpage and also is able to access local filesystem. Not a trivial task.

The filelist plugin allows linking/listing files of the filesystem which are not under the DokuWiki path. Not sure if it works with a windows share. Maybe try it out: https://www.dokuwiki.org/plugin:filelist.

To my suprise, i've tested this using IE today and it simply works with default DokuWiki syntax:
[[\\server\share\folder]]

It will raise a security message dialog, which can be toggled to never showup again. Maybe this could be prevented by a Group-Policy in Windows domain.
