Subject: "Bad user authentication configuration" after update for the latest version
Hi
Looking for some help on this subject. Wiki stopped working and sicne I had an old version, I have updated the dokuwiki to the latest version following the instructions found on the dokuwiki website (https://www.dokuwiki.org/install:upgrade). Basically downloading the tarball and uncompressing to the previous directory. I am running it on a Debian 7.0 machine with apache2.
After the update I have checked the permissions and after the reload I get the ""Bad user authentication configuration" adn I'm locked out.
I am using ACL and all my previous wiki files seem to be in place.
in local.php I have

 $conf['useacl'] = 1;

Spent the best part of the day googling for solutions but without any success. Can anyone help me in troubleshooting this?
Thanks in Advance
JAC

Hi,

what string do you have in your configuration in local.php for

$conf['authtype'] ?

In local.php I don't have the $conf['authtype']

in dokuwiki.php I have:

$conf['authtype']    = 'authplain';

Adding the same string to local.php doesn't change the observed behaviour when trying to login...

Thank you for the question.

Just found out that I have authplain.class.php missing in /usr/share/dokuwiki/inc/auth.
Anyone has an idea how I can recover that file?

Thanks in advance

Just download the latest version of DokuWiki, take the missing file out of the archive and put it where it is missing.

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually tried to do that but then the files were not there.
I actually created a fresh install and copied over the data and user/acl files manually. Definitely I am not using debian apt-get options anymore!

Thanks for trying to help
