Subject: Import/Transfer from WikiSpaces
I have a fairly large wiki on Wikispaces (hundreds of pages) and they are closing their side in the next few months. My research suggests that DokuWiki is the closest WIKI, and that it is fairly easy to transfer the information from WikiSpaces to DokuWiki.

I have exported my pages from Wikispaces as an archive. However, I cannot find any documentation on how to import this archive into DokuWiki.

I searched the plug-ins for possibilities.. but have found nothing. (Please, I don't want to import page-by page when I have hundreds of files)

Does anybody have any experience with this?

Thanks so much.

I have no experience with it but in general you can copy your pages as text files to the data folder. The critical question is the syntax. I had a look at the page but there doesn't seem to be much information because of the close-down.

What kind of markup syntax do they use?

I have found this page which appears to define the syntax for the WikiSpaces wiki, but I don't know whether it applies to the current WikiSpaces implementation: http://helpcenter.wikispaces.com/customer/portal/articles/…

Then, there's https://wikispaces.psu.edu/display/advwiki/Structural+Comp…

Perhaps you could show a few snippets of one or your exported pages?

CiviHosting is now offering a migration service:

https://civihosting.com/wikispaces-migration/

to migrate Wikispaces sites to DokuWiki. :)

Very cool CiviHosting. I wonder if your migration tool is open source? I guess it would cut a bit into your revenue stream to do so but some people may want to host their own...

Regarding the non-working features listed at https://civihosting.com/wikispaces-migrator-tool/

I'd think it should be possible to support the boxes and videos by installing the wrap and vshare plugin in the new wikis?

Hi. Our migration tool is not presently open source.

For boxes, we do have a fix and I edited that page now to remove that note.

For videos, the problem is that the video reference is not included in the export from Wikispaces, when using their DokuWiki export format. :(
