After all the work done on Dw2pdf and SiteExport (Thank you Andy and Gerry) I updated these plugins and had to try creating a large PDF from a remote server. I was hopeful that the work done to improve memory use would yield some successful pdfs. --And they did!
My initial goal was modest, about 50 pages created from a TOC dokuwiki index page with hard links (not generated by indexmenu) that could be used as an offline reference for all of our plugins. The Offline Plugin TOC was this namespace:
https://opencpn.org/wiki/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=opencpn:opencpn_user_manual:toc_offline_plugins_manual
Opening this page, selecting the SiteExport Plugin button in the lower right, brings up the SiteExport configuration page.
the Namespace and Parent namespace were automatically filled in using the TOC path above. Other settings:
Export type: all subnamespaces
Export linked pages checked
Export all parameters checked
Render: dw2pdf
Template: bootstrap3
Disabled all plugins except dw2pdf, ack, dwedit, styling, indexmenu, searchindex, siteexport, extension
(I just noticed that I had disabled ckedit)
After hitting "Start" it took about 20 minutes to run through 311 pages and produce and download an 82mb siteexport.zip.
This was unpacked and I found
1. Separate pdfs for all 311 pages arrayed into directories and subdirectories.
2. Internal links within each page worked properly.
3. External links continued to link directly to the website pages. (I need them to link internally for offline use.)
4. The starting namespace/page "toc_offline_plugins_manual" had links that worked, but they linked to the external website rather than the pdfs that had been created.
5. Rather than the 50 odd plugin pages being created, I got the entire 311 pages.
Does anyone have suggestions to accomplish what I am looking for?
I am very encouraged by the fact that the process did complete, but would like to know how to control it to create the document needed.
