I love dokuwiki - Ive had a number of wikis running for many years for different subjects - it just 'works'
I'm currentky scoping out an intranet site for a client who has specified Drupal 8, and thinking ahead to how to capture and deliver documentation. There are three main types of users to consider - developers & sysadmins (e.g.provision for deployment & maintenance), content administrators and end users.
Dokuwiki is a natural choice as a tool to store and deliver this documentation, I've not seen anything in Drupal that comes close to ease of use and flexibility for this sort of content. The Book module doesn't do it, I've not seen any mature wiki filter type modules ... I want to use Dokuwiki!
But there are two features that would make it extra cute - first would be for Dokuwiki to be able to accept Drupal authentication to avoid having to log in separately (Single Sign On), or worse having to have a separate account being set up. I've seen there are many auth plugins for dokuwiki so I'm hoping there is something I can use / adapt.
But then I started thinking how cool it would be to embed dokuwiki inside the Drupal site - using Drupal as a wrapper putting page layout and core navigation around dokuwiki page content, completely transparent to the user.
How hard would it be to have a Drupal module that calls the core dokuwiki functionality as an include, takes the rendered wiki body content and passes it back through Drupal templates? The Drupal side of things is not a problem, but I've been trying to figure out how to fire dokuwiki up and get it working without having received the full request. I'm guessing that simply using output buffer is a non starter?
