is there a way to create a slideshow that @ALL is able to watch without being able to download the images?
No. :-/
If a visitor can view an image in a browser (on
any website), they can also download it. There are various complicated methods that make it slightly more difficult to simply right-click and choose
Save Image As... from the drop-down list, but essentially -
if you can view it, you can keep it.
If you are worried about copyright being breached - embed the copyright information in the image, also add it as a watermark, and, archive a copy of the page with the
Wayback machine to establish first publication (use the
Save Page Now box).
If you use KDE (and Linux) the following will make that simple:-
Right-click on an image file in the Dolphin file browser and embed copyright information:-
Put the following code into
~/.kde/share/kde4/services/ServiceMenus/kopyrightimage.desktop
[Desktop Entry]
Type=Service
MimeType=image/jpeg;image/tiff;image/png;image/gif;
X-KDE-ServiceTypes=KonqPopupMenu/Plugin
Actions=kopyrightimage;
[Desktop Action kopyrightimage]
Name=Embed copyright notice in image
Icon=/usr/share/kde4/apps/kopyrightimage/icons/hicolor/scalable/actions/kopyrightimage.svgz
Exec=/usr/share/kde4/apps/kopyrightimage/kopyrightimage.sh %F
[/color]
Put the following code into
/usr/share/kde4/apps/kopyrightimage/kopyrightimage.sh (Requires
exiftool)
#!/bin/bash
# kopyrightimage.sh
# Scott Ferguson <scott@scottferguson.com.au>
# 23 February 2017
# copyright notice into image using exiftool
YEAR=$(date +%Y)
COPYRIGHT_NAME=$(kdialog --icon '/usr/share/kde4/apps/kopyrightimage/icons/hicolor/scalable/actions/kopyrightimage.svgz' --name 'exim copyright insertion' --caption 'Add copyright to EXIF (test0)' --inputbox 'Enter the copyright owner name,<br>or click <b>OK</b> to use the default name' 'Scott Ferguson')
if [ $? -eq 0 ]
then
COPYRIGHT_CONTACT=$(kdialog --icon '/usr/share/kde4/apps/kopyrightimage/icons/hicolor/scalable/actions/kopyrightimage.svgz' --name 'exim copyright insertion' --caption 'Add copyright to EXIF (test0)' --inputbox 'Enter the copyright contact email<br>or click <b>OK</b> to use the default address' 'scott@scottferguson.com.au')
else
exit
if [ $? -eq 0 ]
then
COPYRIGHT_INFO="Copyright (c) "$COPYRIGHT_NAME" "$COPYRIGHT_CONTACT", $YEAR. All rights reserved."
else
exit
fi
fi
for i in "$1"
do
exiftool -copyright="$COPYRIGHT_INFO" "$1"
[/color]
Right-click on an image file in the Dolphin file browser and add a watermark copyright:-
Put the following code into
~/.kde/share/kde4/services/ServiceMenus/scottfwatermark.desktop (You'll need to also create your own watermark .png image in place of the one used by this .desktop file. Requires
ImageMagick)
NOTE: this only works with JPEG files (though it could be adapted to other image file types).
[Desktop Entry]
Type=Service
MimeType=image/jpeg
X-KDE-ServiceTypes=KonqPopupMenu/Plugin
Actions=Watermark_ScottF_JPEG
[Desktop Action Watermark_ScottF_JPEG]
Name=Watermark JPEG for Scott Ferguson
Icon=image-jpeg
Exec=cp %f{,.bak};/usr/bin/composite -dissolve 50% -gravity center -quality 100 /home/scott/Pictures/ScottF_2013_Watermark.png %f %f
[/color]
