Subject: Editing my sidebar?
Hi,

Sorry if this isn't the right place, but I'm driving myself nuts here!

I'm compiling a knowledge base using DokuWiki, my side-bar is pretty lengthy, my problem is that all of the "white boxes" on my pages are ending up the same length as the side-bar, even if their is minimal content inside of these "white boxes"

An example would be my Welcome page.. the sidebar is huge, and so for some reason, the text box on my Welcome page matches the side bar in terms of length, even though the only text on my Welcome page is "Hello!"

Does anybody know what I'm talking about / how to fix this problem? I feel like I'm missing something super simple here!

I'm using the default template if that helps!

The content boxes, where the text goes.

For example, on my Welcome page / Start page, the "white boxes" are the content boxes, your side bar is on the left and the white boxes are in the centre with your text in.

Try adding the following to the userstyle.css file (you need to create it yourself, see https://www.dokuwiki.org/devel:css#user_styles):

div.page {
    min-height: 1em !important;
}

I still don't know what you man by the white boxes, but I will take a guess and assume you mean the section editing windows.  Here are two things you can do. To set a maximum height for the sidebar:
div#dokuwiki__aside {
max-height: 40em;
overflow:auto;
}
To set a maximum height for the section edits:
div.levle1,div.level2,div.level3 {
max-height: 20em;
overflow:auto;
}
The 40em and 20em are just suggestions.  Experiment to see what you want.  These go in conf/userstyle.css.  You can use one of these or both.  Note, however, that if the content of these containers exceeds the height of the containers, you will ge scrollbars.
