Sometimes in the admin section in the configuration page of dokuwiki a save-button appears after each topic (basis, display, authentification, etc.) which can be configured. Sometimes a save-button only appears at bottom of this configuration page. Does anybody know what this is related to?

Really? I haven't ever seen a save button except the one at the bottom. Which template are you using?

The Bootstrap3 template has these very convenient save buttons after each section. On the default dokuwiki template you have to go to the bottom of the page, and for someone like myself who does a lot of testing of plugins and has a ton of plugins installed, this is a bit inconvenient -- always having to go to the bottom of the page to save.

We are using bootstrap-template but even there it only appears occasionally :-)

...this is a bit inconvenient -- always having to go to the bottom of the page to save.
I also think so but I also have to admit that I often forget that simply pressing the "End" key brings me to the bottom of the page very quickly.

After -- what is it, 30 years of Windows? -- you learn something new. I still use the ancient Shift+Insert instead of Ctrl_V, but never knew that I could get to the end of the page by hitting End!

I quickly tested with the bootstrap3 template and I am seeing the Save buttons, no problems here.
@virk: do you have any idea which pattern causes the issue? Without at least an suspicion it might be hard to solve the issue. Do you remeber if you changed anything when the issue occured? Maybe installed new plugins or something like that?
virk
No! I nearly haven't got any idea. I have a wiki on my own computer where the buttons just appeared and after a 2nd call of the config-page they were no longer available :-) Maybe they come back next week.
lpaulsen93
Ok, too bad. I switched back to the bootstrap3 template. It's just my own private wiki. So I can stay on it for a while and see if I will ever have the problem.
Two more questions:
- which plugins do you have installed/enabled in your installation?
- is there a rough estimation how often/in which time range the problem occurs?
virk
1) I just counted 42 activated plugins in total.
2) No, unfortunately not. I use configuration-page very rarely; dokuwiki just works :-) but....
3) There is a "problem" which might be related to this one; have a look at the attached picture. The extension-page does not display properly. The tabs "installed plugins, Installed templates, Search and install, Manual install" are not visible, but just display as text below eachother.
When I click f.e. on "Installed templates", the tabs reappear.

Here attached is the screenshot, after I clicked the "Installed template"-link.

Hmmm...I don't see that issue in my installation. Could it be that a part of the CSS code is not transmitted to your browser properly. Do you see any errors in your webserver logs?
virk
The last hour I made some tests with activating/deactivating of plugins. Seems, that if I deactivate the "Dokuwiki Nav Overlay"-plugin the "save-button"-problem is gone.
virk
A further step: While Dokuwiki Nav Overlay-plugin is reactivated, still everything is okay and the save-buttons are displayed. Perhaps it has something to do with cache or css. Currently I do not investigate further.
