Subject: namespace and "you are here"
Hello !

I recently started to use dokuwiki (so sorry if the question is really stupid).

I understood that the namespace are useful to gather several pages in a category.

So i created several pages catA:page1, catA:page2, catA:page3.
When i go to catA:page1, the tracer "you are here" display : start >> catA >> page1 (with the page catA not created yet)

Is it mandatory to have a page for catA, or to display it in the tracer ? Ideally, i would like to have "you are here : start >> page1"

Thank you for your help !

Do you really want the "you are here" option? This is called: "hierarchical breadcrumbs"
Or do you (only) want a "tracer" - a list of recently visited pages? Then you need only the "breadcrumps".

Take a look at the settings breadcrumps and youarehere an play around with them. If the possibilities are not enough, I have another solution for you.

Thank you for your answer !

Ideally, the hierarchical breadcrumbs would be better because i'll have several categories in my doku wiki. I would like to be sure that the user will not be "lost".

For the settings, i have (only), the number of "trace" breadcrumbs and "use hierarchical breadcrumbs".

I am very interested in your solution. It is really kind !

What you can do, is to give your namespaces a nice title. For that you need:
 - The Pagetitle plugin.
 - You have to set the useheading setting to (e.g.): "Always".
 - Give the "start" page of the namespace the title you want for the namespace.

More details can be found in the live demo that I have created for it:
