Subject: tootip plugin be cut off
These days I want to use tooltip plugin to show some message, but I always get the cut off problem, last time I had change the style.less of wrap plugin(change the overflow attribute from "hidden" to "visible") and it worked, but this time it doesn't.
it looks like below:
[Image: http://sirius5206.top/lib/exe/fetch.php?cache=&media=experience:pasted:20181218-120001.png]

You can see the detail in my wiki:http://sirius5206.top/doku.php?id=experience:swift_learning

Can anybody help?

Thank you.

Yes, that seems to me the right way. But you should do that via the userstyle.css. (So that the update safety is given.)
By Patreon.com a few eurons can be fed into the code phasers of
the DokuWiki engine. Besides, Andi's posts are worth reading.

Because plugin:tooltip uses a CSS-only approach, the tooltip will be cut off if it's too close to the end of a container with 'overflow:hidden.' Some plugins and templates will do that.

I just published a new tooltip plugin which shouldn't have this problem. Maybe it will help!

Thanks Zioth,
I had installed the autotooltip with Extention Manager already, but it doesn't work correctly.
I had already read the example: http://zioth.com/dev/dokuwiki/autotooltip
and try them on my wiki, but it doesn't show tooltip when mouse on.
Is there some packages autotooltip dependents on?

There shouldn't be any dependencies, except jQuery (which is in the last several versions of DokuWiki). I've only tested my plugin on Greebo, so there's a chance it depends on that.

I'd be happy to debug your issue, if you point me to a page where it's not working. Other things that might be useful for debugging are:

- The syntax you use to create the autotooltip
- The url mode you use (doku.php?id, /a:b:c, or /a/b/c)
- The meta file for the page you're linking to. It can be found in data/meta/[path to page]/page.meta

Also try updating the plugin. I've made a lot of bug fixes in the past two days.

Thanks Zioth,

here is the test page of my wiki: http://sirius5206.top/doku.php?id=experience:test
The url mode is the previous one.

I was adding the tooltips to a page element that doesn't exist on many templates, including the default one! Pretty stupid of me. :)

If you update the plugin, it should work now.

Looks like the template you're using doesn't have the normal dokuwiki page structure. I've adjusted the plugin to work with your template, and gave it some fallbacks that should guarantee it works with any template. Try one more time. I hope it works!

And thanks for helping me troubleshoot.

Thanks Zioth,
I updated the plugin and tested it, this time it succeeded.
The tip had shown when mouse move on.

Thank you very much.

Yay!

If anything else doesn't work, or if you have any suggestions for improvements, let me know! More enhancements are already on their way. My next update will include an option to add a tooltip to every link on your site.

My next update will include an option to add a tooltip to every link on your site.
Dokuwuki does this natively for all links except for internal links which have the same display name as id, and for any image which has text in field the after the pipe character, i.e. {{mydog.png|my puppy}}, which would give a tooltip of my puppy.

Doku adds browser-native tooltips, which are usually just the wikilink (like a:b:c). I don't find those very useful. The autotooltip plugin pops up nicer looking tooltips that include the page title and abstract. It won't be useful for every wiki, but I like the previews. They keep me from having to click to a new page to remind myself what a term means.

That would be awesome.
