I think it makes more sense to add the "responsive" tags to those templates. That makes it easier to discover and list them.

That sounds like a good idea. And this shouldn't include templates that accidentally look OK visually in landscape mode, because what I found, e.g in Vector, is that the navigation could be off.  And then, of course, the casual visitor could initially encounter this:

By "off":  in the wikipedia style templates, for instance, some of the navigation depends on tabs instead of links or buttons and clicking on the tabs gets no response.

Slightly offtopic: I wonder if  we could build a script to automatically take screenshots for all templates in various screen sizes and orientations, maybe even for multiple pages... this way we could automate this kind of research for the future. Something based on headless chrome could work...

Or our Browserstack account.

I initially planned to get many more templates onto demo.selfthinker.org, so that people can easily try out multiple templates. But lack of time and motivation...
