Subject: It's time to migrate smileys to emojis???
I have been playing with local smileys packs in Dokuwiki this days and have created a small Script in PHP to easy generate your own "Smileys/Tags" Pack's using (conf/smileys.local.conf) with just copy/paste from your browser.

And comparing the actual Smileys (ninety's old school Netscape Browser GIF)  maybe it's time to send a email to the https://www.joypixels.com and try to use their EMOJI ones?

They have a free license, maybe with a Open Source project like Dokuwiki... :?  https://www.joypixels.com/licenses/free

Or the OpenMoji (SVG or PNG resized to 32px):

PS: I also have updated the wiki with preview of the icon packs:

I'm personally not anxious to have tons of emojies on my site.  I'd rather leave it to smileys.local.  That way we get what we need.

Maybe I'm using too much WhatsApp and Telegram and see Emojis as the modern "smileys"...  ;-)

OK, I have done 2 "Smileys Packs" (emojione-smileys + openmoji32-smileys) to just replace de Default Smileys in local easily ( just download and copy the smileys.local.conf from the folder you want to conf/ ).

I'm using the default "smileys.local.conf" of the root folder of the repo, and the WYSIWYG editor looks like this:

Comparison between old smileys and posible new ones:

Yes! Absolutely! Smileys are basically unnecessary when now that emoji are in widespread use. Dokuwikis old smileys look pretty antiquated at this point.

NOTE: I attempted to use an emoji in the original version of this post and everything after it was dropped.
