Subject: How to disable section editing for one specific page
Is there a way to disable section editing just for one specific page, similar to ~~NOTOC~~?

No. But why would you want that?

Maybe it would be a workaround to hide the buttons on this specific page via CSS-rules?

I have created a couple of overview pages containing only links organized in columns grouped by sections. The edit buttons are not needed, but distracting.

Sounds good. Unfortunately, I wouldn't know how to do that. Could you give a clue?

Perhaps it could help, if you applied an ACL ("read only by all, read/write by yourself) to that specific page.

I'm the only user anyway. It's more a matter auf usability and aesthetics.

Could a plugin based on the mechanisms explained in Custom Section Editors in plugins be used to remove the edit buttons within its realm?

Or, would it be possible to write a plugin to locally change the value of maxseclevel?

Using a plugin might have the advantage that one could raise or lower the level of editable sections for a whole page or just parts of a page, independently of the global setting.

Install the WRAP plugin and put the entire content of the page into a WRAP:

<WRAP>
 ... content of the page ...
</WRAP>

(Unfortunately, this is a side effect of the WRAP plugin. But it's nice that someone can use that...)

I tried to do create such a CSS-rule, because I thought every page has an unique CSS id. It seems that I remembered this wrong, so I think that it is not possible to apply such a rule on one page only. Sorry!

Thanks for the hint. There seems to be some interference between the WRAP plugin and the columns plugin. For the the edit buttons to disappear (except for a global one), I had to use WRAP like this:

<columns ...>
<WRAP>
... subsections ...
</WRAP>
<newcolumn>
<WRAP>
... subsections ...
</WRAP>
</columns>

Maybe it is an alternative way for you to build the columns on this page using the WRAP Plugin.

That works well. I started with
<WRAP column half>
... subsections ...
</WRAP>
<WRAP column half>
... subsections ...
</WRAP>
and then switched to
<WRAP col2>
... subsections ...
</WRAP>
But that renders a vertical dotted line to the left of the right column. Is there a way to avoid that line?

You have to customize your CSS.

If you have any questions about this, please open a new thread.
