make sure your apache is configured to handle the php extension

ie, if your extension is .php the handler (either system defined or user defined) should be application/x-httpd-php5

Below is what you might see.  If you do not have some handler defined to do php it will most likely not handle .php calls well.

Extension                             User Defined Handlers
.php                                   application/x-httpd-php5

Extension                             System Defined Handlers
.cgi .pl .plx .ppl .perl           cgi-script
.shtml                                    server-parsed

Subject: install.php download
Hi,

As said by mfv30, there is no "PHP or Apache or Lighttpd problem" to solve, because he says that all php scripts were working fine but install.php not.
I had the same problem here, and found the solution somewhere on the web (can't remember where)...

If you are trying to access install.php with the uri : "http://localhost/dokuwiki/install.php", it will simply fail and the web browser will try to download the file (tested from dokuwiki version 2008 to the latest !!)

You HAVE TO use a different uri to run the "install.php" script, like : "http://127.0.0.1/dokuwiki/install.php".

This should be declared as a bug, but i do not have the time to...
Regards,

Works for me.

Oh you don't have time to report bugs but expect people to take time to fix them? pff...  :#:

Humm... yes exactly, and i could also post nothing but it is not the case because i took time to register on this forum and post a message to help others, then i tried to log on the bug tracking system to insert a bug, but had to register to the bug tracking system... really annoying, so if a moderator think it is a bug he can declare this as a bug.

I just hope this post could help others, if you are not pleased with this...
