First of all, DW's feature is that it is using nomal text files for storing the data (mostly text ;) ) thus while in desaster situtation you could open them with a text editor and use simple search tools. That is one of the advantages of DW.

A web spider has nothing to do with PHP, thats the job of the web server. The spider only collects the same date your web browser is showing you at runtime, so you have (more or less) static pages.
So making a file backup of the data dir, or as absolute minimum "pages" and "media", it is sufficent to get your wiki alive wherever you have an web server with PHP (in a normal configuration).
