Hello,
we use DokuWiki in a very small (as in "3 users") group, so the discussion plugin is a bit overkill and we use to edit the pages directly to discuss, appending the names manually.
So I wondered if it would be possible to dedicate that task to a plugin, every user would be assigned a color (or CSS class), and if she made an addition to a page, it would be highlighted in the user's color.
First problem is, that I haven't got the slightest idea how this could be done (using the diff history?!), I barely managed to create my own first plugin (not good yet)...
Second problem is, that the coloring would have to be aware of the document's structure, it won't suffice to open and close an element at the beginning or end of an altered section, as it could break nesting (though maybe there is already another plugin that corrects badly nested elements? As in: { ... { ( ... } [ ... ) ... ] } ==> { ... { ( ... ) } [ ( ... ) ... ] } where {},[] would be opening/closing tags of some elements and () would be the highlighting-span...)
Is there any hope? If highlighting is too complex, I'd also be OK with adding an avatar-icon at the beginning of each edited section or something like that...
