Failed to Connect
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at www.thegorillafarm.com:8080.
Though the site seems valid, the browser was unable to establish a connection.
It doesn't matter if it is www.thegorillafarm.com, localhost, or 127.0.0.1 - I always get the error. So what did I do? I called up the terminal and typed in the following:
$ cd /Applications/dokuwiki-2008-05-05-2/
$ ./ctlscript.sh start
and SHAZAM! DocuWiki opens up like it is supposed to! Sounds great but I want this to happen without my intervention in case of an unattended reboot (power outage, etc). So looking into another forum I found the recommendation to create a .plist file and save it in /Library/LaunchDaemons so, in theory anyway, it will automatically do what I had to manually perform above -
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "
http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
<key>Label</key>
<string>com.bitnami-dokuwiki.services</string>
<key>OnDemand</key>
<false/>
<key>ProgramArguments</key>
<array>
<string>/Applications/dokuwiki-2008-05-05-2/ctlscript.sh</string>
<string>start</string>
</array>
<key>RunAtLoad</key>
<true/>
<key>StartOnMount</key>
<false/>
<key>UserName</key>
<string>root</string>
</dict>
</plist>
but it doesn't for some odd reason. But (to make a convoluted path even MORE convoluted) I wrote the following Applescript snippet and when I run
do shell script "launchctl load -w /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.bitnami-dokuwiki.services.plist"
amazingly the plist that DIDN'T work at the startup DOES decide to work. I really don't understand this, probably because I know next to nothing about unix, so can anyone help me figure out either
1.) What needs to be configured in DokuWiki to make this error go away after a reboot or
2.) What is wrong with the .plist file. Is it in the wrong directory? Am I missing a crucial entry?
No rush but the sooner the better if you decide you know the answer. Thanks.
