I have installed dokuwiki (version of 05.05.2008) successfully. It it served by a Leopard iMac. With Firefox everything is running fine but with Safari the navigation section does not behave as expected. Namespaces are not wided.
Is this a known bug of Safari? Does anybody know a solution?
Kind regards

Which template are you using? That might be a CSS problem of the template.
virk
I use dokubook-template.

Ok, I'll look into it (I'm the author of the template, put on my todo list).

Perhaps somebody else in this forum ever came across this problem. Is there perhaps another template which I could use meanwhile?
chi
Hey, why so impatient ;-)? I've found the issue, safari insists to have a blank line at the end of the script.js. I've updated the template and put a newer version online. Rember to clear the browser cache after updating.

I updated and until now everything is working fine. You are a quick and clever guy! Thanks a lot!

Unfortunately when I am at home now i have the same problems again. Only now I try to reach the wiki via Internet and the namespaces are not widened. Now also Firefox doesn't work correctly:-(
Do you perhaps know what to do? Can I do or test/check anything?
chi
Purge your browser cache, if that doesn't help you have to force a re-cache of the Javascript, in Firefox use CTRL+SHIFT+R (btw. it's working here on my testwiki with FF and Safari).
virk
No, it doesn't work via Internet. With local sites it works:-(

Can you give me a link?
virk
I have only internal information in this closed wiki. I will try to adjust the acl. Do you have a site available with dokuwiki and dokubook where I can see it working via Internet?

Okay, the link you gave me worked as well in Safari as also in Firefox. Maybe you can try this one:

It is crazy. I switched over to monobook template, than switched back to dokubook and everything is working well again. Shit!

It's not crazy, you're experiencing the wonders of caching ;-). So everything is working now, right?
virk
At this moment I cannot see any error. Maybe it was caused by caching reasons.
But did you really find a problem within your dokubook software or was everything only caused by my caching problems. In any case thanks a lot for your support. Have a beer at my cost if you ever come to Aachen, Germany.
chi
It was a problem with the template, I verified it with a Safari browser at work, it was caused because the script.js of the template had no empty line after the last function call, which apparently only affected Safari. The other problems with your wiki not working on the internet but from your local network where probably caused by cachin magic though ;-).
I'll be at the FroSCon next week, I dunno how far away that is from Aachen though ;-).

The problem seems to be solved. But it took me a while to really force Safari to only load/show the corrected template and java stuff. I could not figure out, how this procedure of really loading everything new worked.
Thank to chi for the work

To whom it may concern.
The problem has reoccurred and I did not know why.
Then I changed ACL; I played a little bit with it. I could make the problem disappear by giving read permissions to @all. Before @all had no permissions; but it sometimes showed the index opening and sometimes not. I think, the problem is related to ACL somehow. Unfortunately I cannot give more information but hopefully this is useful to somebody who ever might deal with the same problem.
