Hi folks,
finally I have some time to introduce myself in this forum.
I'm from the former Eastern-Germany - a city called Neustrelitz - but live in Berlin since 2001 (I say Eastern-Germany because most people know where that was - though I do not feel bound to this term!). I studied communication systems at the Siemens Technical Academy and the former Berlin TFH (now Beuth Hochschule). But basically I'm a web designer and programmer. In addition I think I'm a semi professional video filmer and editor with over 30 short films, documentaries and edited dance performance recordings.
The first time I started using DokuWiki dates back so far that I think DW was still in its first year of development. How long is that? Feels like decades. I was looking for a way to improve my personal website and make it even easier to edit. (I started an edit mode - which was pretty much like DW, but I'm really lazy in doing all of my own, so I searched and found DW.) The reason was clear: I had little time to maintain my homepage. Everything had to be easy easy easy.
Since then I equipped about err ... 9 WebSites with DW - my personal one [1] + a family site, one for my server (but the project froze),two charitable ones for my church [2], one for the Faster-Than-Light-Dance-Company, one for the Berliner Pressekonferenz [4], a current project for the Bremer vampires (not public yet) and the most prestigious one for my company [5]. I think I missed at least one. All pages have very individual templates (and THAT is what I think I really can do ;-) ).
DokuWiki was not the perfect system as CMS - which has pretty much improved since then - so I started writing Plugins. Together with the ones from my company there are about 20-30 or more individual plugins I made. For every purpose. Simple display and layout plugins up to galleries and online stores (code not public from the stores).
The so far best plugins are (imho) siteexport, imageflow + reflect and translator.
BTW: "Gamma Production" is my working title - and that dated back even more (I think to 1996). Everyone needs a name for his/her homepage and a nickname ;-)
