Ok, here is what I am experiencing. I have a small wiki. In this wiki there are some pages with a number of photos. The average load time per photo is 30 seconds (according to firebug). Everyone who accesses the wiki experiences the same excruciating load times. If I set the ~~NOCACHE~~ setting on a page, it loads as one would expect the page to load. If I remove the ~~NOCACHE~~, it slows down again. Clearing the browser cache is not the issue. In fact, it makes things worse because it has to re-request the photos again. Some pages take 5 minutes or more to load.
PHP safe mode is disabled on the server. I cleared the dokuwiki cache folder. I do not own this server, but it is Linux based. I am somewhat familiar with Linux, but might have missed a permission setting somewhere. At least that is all I can come up with.
I even disabled all plugins with no change.
