Subject: google_maps installation
Hello,
because i'm using the Xoops CMS I am searching for the lines to add to the confi.

What I've tried:
  • uploaded the plugin to the url, I've registred  at google (i registred only the "http://www.mydomain.com" instead of the exact directory, so this has to work).
  • I tried to understand the config of dokuwiki ... not good documentated for noobs, sorry!
  • I added to to /conf/local.php this lines (just trying):
/* google_maps, manuell eingefügt */
$conf['GMAP_KEY']        = "MY_OWN_KEY*";
$conf['GMAP_SCRIPT']    = "http://maps.google.com/maps?file=api&v=2&amp";

Loading a dokuwiki page with correct googlemaps tags (from a dokuwiki-googlemaps-example page) shows an alert-window with a ~"wrong-key" message. The key is correct, I verified it with the google-maps-"hello-World" on sam directory.
I'm not good to php, so I've no idea if this is an syntactic or semantic problem. Please someone who understand this or has installed this already. Thanks

Try:

$conf['plugin']['googlemaps']['GMAP_KEY']        = "MY_OWN_KEY*";
$conf['plugin']['googlemaps']['GMAP_SCRIPT']    = "http://maps.google.com/maps?file=api&v=2&amp";

plugin configs are stored beyound $conf['plugin']['pluginname']

hm, I've inserted this, but didn't work, still the same error (key for other site). When I'm sure, I got the correct key, what does the plugin send to google?
How could i get an echo which Key the plugin is sending, verifying the system reads it out correctly from the /conf/local.php?
Or any other ideas for debugging?
Any other things to do, more than uploading the plugin, inserting this 2 lines?

The plugin should be able to work with DW's config manager.  Do you have the most recent version of DokuWiki?

Previous versions of DW didn't have the ability to modify plugin settings through the config manager.  I did add code to the plugin in October that would enable the settings to be set from the config manager for people using 2006-03-xx DW.  The most recent version for use with DW 2006-11-06 has had that code removed.  If you are using the March 2006 DW make sure you have the earlier version of the plugin -you can still download it - zip | tgz

The key itself is passed to the browser in a script tag around about the location of the first googlemaps requirement. Use your browser's view source facility and search for it.  Check out my test page, here, you'll see the key about a third of the way in (it starts ABQIAAAA).

Sorry, it didn't mention the versions yet: DW 2006-03-09b and the according plugin from the tar.
 In the source facility i see:
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://maps.google.com/maps?file=api&amp;v=2&amp;key="></script>
instead og
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://maps.google.com/maps?file=api&amp;v=2&amp;key=ABQIAAAAZ4iTExUkWpyx7TjFzS9t4xQSqoaS8jkK2Zptt9OAdUrPVOrfPhSejHWqMbnnMUzHufPAe-KXO55Ilg"></script>
<script type='text/javascript'>

I didn't find a matching line in the plugins, where I could hardcode this. So, any ideas, why it doesn't insert my key and how to solve this?

solved

My fault was to insert this two $conf*  lines shown above in the dokuwiki/conf/local.php, not in the dokuwiki/lib/plugins/googlemaps/conf/default.php.
Now as i tried this, success came immediately.
thanx
