Hi -
Trying to go 2 for 2 today on posts...please help me out :)
Right now, the search button looks like a small wart on a giants arse. There is such an awesome search engine and display results, and such a paltry search box in the top right corner.
How can i 1) embed this into my main page (if possible), 2) Ennnnnlllllllaaaaaaarrrrrrggggggeeee my search box, at least horizontally, or 3) Move it to the upper left corner, which as experts have shown, is the first place people look.
I have this nice index feature on the left site, but that's still a bit clumsy, especially when in comparison to the search feature. I know that if i leave the search button as is, i will get inundated with calls about not being able to browse to this or that through the index menu, but if i put the search int he right place and\or enlarge it, they will naturally gravitate towards that like a horse to water.
Our current wiki relies almost exclusively on an index like navigation system, so it will take cleverness on my part to ease their way into searching first.
I saw a couple of posts out there somewhat related, but nothing with any real working resolutions. Hoping someone can add some insight to this. :nuts:

Guess I'll reply to my own post.
Developer helped me out. Ended up making changes to 3 files.
inc\template.php controlled the look of the search box and button. We ended up making two new classes, which we then stuck into the layout.css file, as show below. Also main.php - under the tpl\*\main.php modified float:right to float:left right (just above tpl_searchform in that file)
inc\template.php - changed class=“edit” to class=“mysearch” (that's the search box) and class=“button” to class=“mysearchbutton”
layout.css (under tpl\*\) new classes (we added them at the bottom of the file)
mysearch {
width:200px; height:20px; text-size:12px;
}
mysearchbutton {
width:200px; height:20px; text-size:12px;
}
This is all greek to me, but it works!
