This is a tricky question to ask because I'm not quite sure what what I'm looking for is called, so maybe the answer's in the fora but I don't know the search string to use. A while back I posted the following query to a web developer's listserv:
This is a bit of a feeler as I'm not quite sure what what I'm after is called, or even if it exists. Very briefly, I'm looking to create user-friendly server-side page templates in PHP which would take user input (text, URLs, images) then create web pages in a specific format with one or more stylesheets. This is sort of what a CMS does but without the need for a database. We only need the templates to produce a few tens of pages so a CMS would be way OTT. So I'm looking for a server-side tool which would allow me to build forms to output specific page types.
I could see how it could be done from scratch but I don't want to 'reinvent the wheel', as the old cliché goes, if such a tool already exists.
One guy responded saying that he was experimenting with DokuWiki for a similar purpose, so today I got around to installing and playing with DW on localhost, and very nice it is too - I can see lots of uses for it, but I'm not sure that it could do what I'm after in this particular instance. So before I spend serious time on DW I'd be grateful if someone could tell me if it (or a plugin or template) would be a suitable tool for this purpose.
Cheers
Fred
