To all:
I am looking into creating a Product test case and QC management system. For various reasons, I would like to stick with open source products. I've looked into specific solutions, such as testlink, testopia, and the like, but found that they are too specific to SW testing, and also a bit convoluted for what I am looking to do.
So, I started looking into using a Wiki for this. What I like about using a wiki, is the fact that test and/or inspection instructions can be defined in a more flexible and at the same time, more structured manner. But, in addition to simply defining the test case or inspection step, I would like to keep track of the results and metrics... This is where I am not sure a wiki can provide what I am looking for... I have looked into various wikis, and came across Dokuwiki. I like the look and feel of Dokuwiki, and am impressed with it's easy of use, both for end-users and admins. Also, the community and plugins are amazing. Also, I am sufficiently confortable with PHP.
So, I guess I am looking for advice from more competent Wiki users, on whether the below can be implemented (with existing feature set/plug ins), preferrably with Dokuwiki, or of not, perhaps with another wiki.
The system should be able to:
- Allow for defining test/inspection pages, each of which may include forms to track certain parameters or results of the test/inspection.
- Forms to track parameters may vary from page to page
- Allow for grouping test pages into a test set, on a seperate page
- Test set page would then be copied, for a specific project, with a unique project ID
- On this test set page, for each test, there should be a form to track whether the test/inspection was run/completed, pass/fail
- On this test set page, the end-user should be able to open the test page, and enter the test parameters, again per project id
- Would be nice if later, one could search for any given test case, and get results on pass/fail per project
Hope the above is sufficiently clear. If not, lemme know.
Thanks a bunch in advance for your input!
Greets!
