Hello everyone,
I recently went over my wiki and changed things around on my localhost.
So in the end I ftp all files up (Into the data/pages/) on the wiki server.
But now I have done that I can no longer edit ANY of the files/pages on-line. It never show the edit button any more, and yes i am logged in LOL.
I don't know why it is doing this but everything is working fine on my localhost version.
If you need any more info please ask.
Thanks all
Sam

You've probably changed either the ownership or permissions of the files. Your ftp client should have a function which allows you to change ownership back to the web server and permissions to writable by the web server.

Ye i think it is something to do with the ownership as at the bottom it say external edit.
To change ownership back by my ftp client i am not sure i am using filezilla.
And what should the file permissions be?
Thanks ALOT mate!

The files you're uploaded have to be writeable by the webserver. You could "open" the permissions for one file and try to edit/delete them through DokuWiki. If it's a shared webhosting then your provider should offer some documentation about it.

I'm not sure about filezilla, which I don't use because it stores passwords in plain text on your computer. But with winSCP, you can change the file permissions and the ownership of files by right-clicking on the file name and opening up properties.

Are ok Thanks it was a file permission problem!
The files should be
Readable, Writeable
But should they be executable?
Thanks
turnermm
That is correct. Your .txt files should be Readable and Writable. But Executable permission applies only to directories and program files. On all other files it is ignored. If a program file is not executable then it can't run; if a directory is not executable, then it can't be opened.

Ok Can i personal thank you for your support all of you!
It was just a permission problem.
Can i suggest that some where on your documentary that you put down file permissions setting. (Don't take that as affence it is not ment to be just a suggestion)
