1. the new release, while it seems pretty stable, has not been fully bug-proofed and probably will not be until the end of October.
2. Use fckgLite for a production site. See:
http://www.mturner.org/fckgLite/doku.php. You are safe to use the most recent of the dailies, especially if you use ff 6 or later or IE 9 where changes to the HTML and Javascript engines required some fixes to fckgLite.
fckgLite is widely used and well supported. As of this a.m. it has been downloaded almost 24,000 times from over 8000 unique ip addresses. There are no plans to change over to CKeditor. Check out the mailing list and possibly this form for reasons why.
