Thanks Andi for your suggestions!
andi check your error console for blocked content warnings
Today I saw a PHP7 error message, indeed. It seems that it has been triggered after starting the machine and before calling the wiki from another PC in my network.
That's the complete content of error.log
this morning:
[Wed Jul 27 09:52:49.742624 2022] [mpm_prefork:notice] [pid 791] AH00163: Apache/2.4.41 (Ubuntu) configured -- resuming normal operations
[Wed Jul 27 09:52:49.742759 2022] [core:notice] [pid 791] AH00094: Command line: '/usr/sbin/apache2'
[Wed Jul 27 09:58:45.453668 2022] [php7:error] [pid 812] [client 192.168.xxx.xxx:57724] script '/var/www/html/favicon.ico' not found or unable to stat, referer: http://192.168.xxx.yyy/
However, I have not disabled the standard apache2 page appearing when calling the PC's IP address. My dokuwiki
sits in its own folder parallel to /html/
and runs in a virtual server.
The dokuwiki-error.log later said:
[Wed Jul 27 10:17:27.078072 2022] [authz_core:error] [pid 1503] [client 192.168.xxx.xxx:47404] AH01630: client denied by server configuration: /var/www/dokuwiki/data/dont-panic-if-you-see-this-in-your-logs-it-means-your-directory-permissions-are-correct.png, referer: http://<my-wiki>.local/doku.php?id=start&do=admin
andi disable ad blocking
try a different browser
Yes, my standard browser has uBlockOrigin and Disconnect installed, but I can see the same with other browsers, like Iridium and Brave without ad-ons, even when using different (Windows-) PC in my network.
andi be sure to try with the dokuwiki template
I had installed this wiki about a year ago by using the standard template and I only changed the top--logo.
andi disable any plugins that might interfere with the styles
AFAIK I didn't do anything with styles. I have two add-ons installed: The one enabling updates and one allowing shifting pages. Both had been there from the beginning.
Again, my problems began after I changed by accident the file access to 700 for all files recursively, not for directories only and I did not manage a correct setup afterwords. I'd ran the update template meanwhile, hoping that it could help repairing the system (it didn't). While addressing your second last proposal, I got the idea asking you whether it might be the possible that the dokuwiki
template and probably other files have not been updateted correctly. Would you recommend overwriting the installation with IGOR again?
Later today I will look into our server that got my old HOGFATHER based wiki (just by copying the whole directory), showing all smileys and icons as my "private mirror" did before my fault.
Are there different places to look at? I described in a previous post what is visible when asking Firefox' Inspector and hovering over the empty space where a smiley or icon should appear.
