Do you in point 2 ask for a way to limit the maximum number of characters in a textbox? If you prefer that it is an option for a field, please create an issue at the bugtracker please.
Maybe you can even tune the regexp further...for already achieving this.
X{n} X, exactly n times
X{n,} X, at least n times
X{n,m} X, at least n but not more than m times
So I guess this would work:
/^[atgc]{5}$/
(I'm still slowly working on
https://github.com/splitbrain/dokuwiki-plugin-bureaucracy/issues/143 probably also nice for your usage of regexp)
Thanks.
I am not sure what you mean.
Here is what I am asking in point 2) in my OP:
Users need to enter a DNA sequence (composed of only As, Ts, Gs or Cs). This sequence can be of any length.
Lets assume a user inputs a sequence that contains 7 letters (e.g. atgcgta). The next field asks the user to report the length of the sequence he just entered (in this example "7"). However there is no control that the user is reporting the proper length of the sequence. He could as well enter "6" or "8" or "123985"... In addition it is a bit cumbersome for users to count how long the sequence is.
I was wondering if there was a way not to ask the users to enter the length of the sequence but instead to have it automatically calculated and reported by the form (so that it will be visible in the output table, for instance if we ask for it)
Does that make any more sense? Just let me know if it doesn't ;)
Now I'm thinking maybe this is not something that should be achieved using the bureaucracy plugin (the form) but rather using the structured data plugin (dataentry section)... Maybe I could somehow use the length of the value @@sequence@@ as a value for 'sequence length'... No idea how for now, though...
