TableCalc Stops Sum After Too Many Entries?

Hi,

I've been using TableCalc for a while now and it's been working great. For the past few months however, it hasn't been calculating right. The formulas I've been using are simple sum formulas to total up the numbers in the tables. After a certain point, it just stops calculating. In the example in the link, I've removed the first tilde from a copy of the formula below Total and Current to display what each formula is.

I think I may have found the problem, but I have no idea how to fix it. In the example above, the result for Current should show 0 (zero). It is however showing 394, which means that it had stopped calculating at cell c2r9. When I tried to call up the value of c2r10, the result gives me "notset"...

Does anyone know what this means?

I tried to import your xppurchase table into a spreadsheet program. Beginning with January 22 (...) Obfuscate 3, ... it starts dropping lines, presumably on account of the vertical bar sign within the wiki links [[url|text]] in the column labelled 'Notes'.
This is, of course, perfectly legal DokuWiki syntax for use in a table but it might irritate TableCalc.

Unfortunately, this does not seem to be the solution either. I tried removing links and it did nothing. The "notset" still shows up. I will also note that in other tables with the exact same formulas/formatting/design/etc, but has zero links in them, the problem persists.

The sample in the first post does not agree with your description. I see

Total|Current
446 | 0
(some formula) | (another formula)

The '3' in the bottom right cell changes to '2' when I change the reference to c2r10, not 'notset'. However, I get 'notset' for 'c2r100'.

Yeah, I added the 3rd row yesterday while messing around to see what's up. The reason why you got "notset" for c2r100 is because xppurchase doesn't have 100 entries. I think it only has like 80+ rows.

But what you posted shows that the Current formula is indeed working correctly because it DOES show 0 (zero) and not 394. This prompted me to check again and it looks like these errors are only happening in Chrome and Brave, but not in Firefox. In Firefox, everything is working as it should...

Is there something about Chrome and Brave that is not compatible suddenly? How would I fix that?

Might I suggest something? I know it sucks when an entirely different approach is suggested, but hear me out.
We're making a dokuwiki-based LARP players portal for VtM.

We're using the Bureaucracy + Struct +Userhomepage plugins for character (and downtime) management.

It's not the most good looking, but it gets the job done!

From my understanding, Struct is for database functionalities? I'm not sure we need an actual database. What I'm trying to do here is pretty much to create an automated but simplistic Excel-like table for players to view how much total XP they have and how much they've already spent without needing to do manual calculations by themselves.

It was working very well up until sometime beginning of the year when the extension just stopped calculating past a certain entry as noted in the above posts.

So far, it is still working well ONLY in Firefox and Opera GX. Other browsers turn up bad calculations.

I will note that all attempts to contact the developer of this plugin failed. I even sent an email to the email address provided and did not receive any replies. 😐

This appears to be a javascript issue with Chrome/Brave/Vivaldi/Edge.

For example: A separate table to sum the totals of a previous table using the "label" reference does not work reliably in Chrome & derivatives, but does work in Firefox or PaleMoon (Goanna/Gecko).

Hi, I finally found the spot to tweak the Tablecalc Plugin!
In the plugin directory open script.js in a texteditor. Do a text search (e.g. STRG + F or CTRL + F depending on your keyboard) for the string timeout. What you will find is the following line of code at the end of the first block of the main function tablecalc:

setTimeout(tablecalc_final,0)

Yes, without the closing ;! Just set the timeout to 100 milliseconds like so:

setTimeout(tablecalc_final,100)

This provides the necessary delay, I was talking about here:

Chris75 Difference is, Edge might load page too quick and Javascript isn't ready calculating yet.

Save your file, close and restart your browser and navigate back to the wiki page. Now, it works like a charm in Edge, Chrome, Firefox and IE11. (Tested with your test page wiki syntax on DokuWiki-on-a-stick, release Igor, Sprintdoc template, latest version of tablecalc plugin.)

EDIT: After more testing I found that at least part of your problem is related to using non-existing cell c5r99 in sum, like this: ~~=round(sum(items_2.c5r1:c5r99),2)~~.
In fact, it broke my test setup (occasionally) and it's not recommended, anyways, see the plugin manual.

That bug from 2018 was fixed; a similar bug now appears in some browsers and not others -- the distinction appears to be Chrome-based vs. Firefox-based.
